THE BALLAD OF JACK AND BESS
Laughin’ Jack was a handsome lad
With eyes that twinkled blue
And he carried about an old guitar
And would sing ya a song or two.
Along down the dock came his lady love
Miss Bess with the auburn hair,
Said Jack to her “let’s run away
And live without a care….”.
So out to sea they took their song
To find their fortune and fame
And were pressed ta serve on a pirate ship
Dark Rose, her dreadful name.
Now they be singin’ fer Crudbeard Tom
An his Bloodthirsty lady fair
As the cannons boom other ships ta their doom
An the hawks circle in tha air.
With a sword and a cannon
They’ll sing their songs
Fer a pirate life so free
Fer a bottle o rum
An treasure by tha ton
A pirate’s life is free!
